Cellist Annie Tångberg is a versatile musician with a contemporary touch: A typical week of work could contain anything from a studio session, an experimental music theatre performance, accompanying a silent film or working with the Metropole Orchestra. She performed in several editions of the internationally renowned Amsterdamse Cellobiennale and toured with different groups to festivals all over Europe, as well as traveling to the USA,Middle East, Brazil, China and Suriname.
Originally from Oslo, Norway, Annie moved to the Netherlands where she completed a master degree in chamber music at the Royal Conservatory in the Hague. Since then she has been based in Amsterdam. Besides her position as a player in the Metropole Orchestra she collaborates with different groups and people: The West Side Trio, Metropole Orkest Cellos, Martin Fondse and Lenine, EYE film,ISH!dancecollective, Margriet Sjoerdsma/Odelion Orchestra, Sonja van Hamel, Bill Laurance and others.
Annie also writes and arranges music for her different projects. Her songs and arrangements are heard on releases by Flip Noorman, Odelion Orchestra,West Side Trio, Metropole Orkest Cellos, Yentl en de Boer and Sonja van Hamel. Together with her two colleagues from West Side Trio she composed a new score for the silent movie classic “Tabu” (Fritz Murnau) which was performed with the trio and the strings of the Metropole Orchestra at Muziekgebouw aan t Ij in 2017.
